ACTstroke is a pioneering initiative that unites stroke units across Austria, creating a robust network that significantly enhances stroke research trials and projects. This network offers significant benefits to its member hospitals by facilitating collaboration and resource sharing. In addition, external companies and research institutions can greatly benefit from access to this cohesive network, utilising the combined capabilities of the participating study sites for their research trials.

The VASCage biomedical databank and research resource can provide researchers with a substantial collection of biospecimens with clinical annotations for in-depth study.
ACTstroke offers the full range of clinical studies such as pharmaceutical clinical trials, medical device clinical investigations, biomedical research projects, observational studies, registries, biobank studies etc.
ACTstroke conducts clinical studies only with well-trained, experienced and qualified study staff.
ACTstroke conducts clinical studies only in well-equipped stroke units at notable clinics according to highest Austrian standards.
ACTstroke offers field testing of investigational medical devices in key stroke centers in Austria
ACTstroke effectively networks and bundles the comprehensive know-how of its partners.

For study sites interested in stroke research

As an ACTstroke member, your study site benefits from collaborative synergy, streamlined communication, and knowledge exchange. With access to diverse expertise and resources, ACTstroke offers unique opportunities in clinical research, accelerating innovation. This fuels transformative breakthroughs, reshaping stroke treatment and care paradigms.

The conduct of clinical studies requires well-trained and qualified study staff. Therefore, ACTstroke offers education, training and mentorship to study staff (GCP, IATA courses etc.)
ACTstroke offers limited financial support for establishing a clinical study team on site (not valid for every study site).
ACTstroke supports the study sites in the setup and establishment of a quality management framework e.g. by providing SOP templates

ACTstroke embeds study processes within delivery of routine healthcare in non-academic study sites.
The ACTstroke network facilitates efficient internal communication and promotes the exchange of knowledge among ACTstroke members. By being connected within this network, individuals and organizations can easily share valuable insights, collaborate effectively, and enhance their collective understanding in the field of stroke research and treatment.
Within the ACTstroke network patient safety and well-being has top priority by adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements. Therefore, ACTstroke assists in the coordination, organization and conduct of clinical studies.
ACTstroke offers a restricted-access database exclusively available to its ACTstroke members, which contains contact information of all study sites. This valuable resource facilitates rapid and convenient knowledge exchange among the various study sites, enabling seamless communication and collaboration within the ACTstroke network.

Once being a member of ACTstroke, VASCage occasionally presents project proposals to study sites.

Translational Stroke Research and Development

The research centre VASCage puts cutting-edge stroke research into practice. VASCage innovations significantly improve stroke diagnosis, prevention and therapy. Scientific discoveries make breakthroughs in recovery, rehabilitation, and post-stroke care possible.
